A Community Emergency Hub is a place for community members to gather and help each other during a disaster.

The Exercise Rū Whenua a Rohe scenario is based on an Alpine Fault earthquake in the South Island with impacts to the Wellington region. As part of the Porirua City Counicl exercise, members of the Waitangirua Community will open up the Waitangirua Community Emergency Hub to practise responding as a community during a major earthquake.

This event will cover how to:

  • Set up a local Community Emergency Hub
  • Ensure those in your community are supported
  • Overcome potential challenges together
  • Make the most of the resources you have as a community
  • Have fun meeting together and practicing various roles with an interactive earthquake scenario.

Open to all ages and abilities, no experience needed!

Refreshments will be provided. All attendees will go into the draw to win a 200L Emergency Water Tank!!
