What are the proposed changes?

Below is the list of all the Community Emergency Hubs and proposed changes.

The proposed changes are to consolidate Hubs in the areas below, to make it easier for the entire community to come together and respond effectively during a disaster.

The proposed changes are designed to:

Enable more sustainable management of the Community Emergency Hubs in the Wellington region before an emergency.
Enable a more coordinated and effective connection from the Hubs to the council Emergency Operations Centre during an emergency.
Improve the ability of communities to match needs and offers during a disaster due to increasing the concentration of community members rather than dispersing them.
Provide the council emergency response with a more timely and efficient understanding of community needs and capacities.
Improve community outcomes during a response by enhancing the ability of the council Emergency Operations Centre to provide a feedback loop and prioritise resources to the areas where need is greatest.

Proposed changes by area

Hataitai

The proposed changes for the Hataitai Community Emergency Hubs are to consolidate the three Hubs to two:

Current Hubs: Hataitai North, Roseneath School and Hataitai South

Proposed Change: Roseneath School and Hataitai South

Miramar

The proposed changes for the Miramar Community Emergency Hubs are to consolidate the two Miramar Hubs to one:

Current Hubs: Miramar North  and Miramar Central

Proposed Change: Miramar North

Tawa

The proposed changes to the Community Emergency Hubs in Tawa are to consolidate the four Hubs to three:

Current Hubs: Redwood School, Tawa School, Linden School and Greenacres School

Proposed change: Redwood School and Tawa School (unaffected), with either Linden School or Greenacres School to remain

Stokes Valley

The proposed changes to the Community Emergency Hubs in Stokes Valley are to consolidate the three Hubs to two:

Current Hubs: Tui Glen School, Tawhai School and Koraunui School

Proposed Change: Tui Glen School and Koraunui School

Naenae

The proposed changes for the Community Emergency Hubs in Naenae are to consolidate the two Hubs to one:

Current Hubs: Rata Street School and Naenae Primary School.

Proposed Change: Naenae Primary School.

Wainuiomata

The proposed changes for the Community Emergency Hubs in Wainuiomata are to consolidate the seven Hubs to four Hubs:

Current Hubs: Arakura Primary School, Konini Primary School, Wainuiomata Primary School, Brookfield Scout Camp, Pukeatua Primary School, Fernlea School and Wainuiomata Library.

Proposed Change: Arakura Primary School, Konini Primary School, Wainuiomata Primary School and Brookfield Scout Camp.

Upper Hutt (central)

The proposed changes for the Upper Hutt Central Community Emergency Hubs are to consolidate the three Hubs to one Hub:

Current Hubs: Oxford Cres School, St Joseph School, and Upper Hutt School

Proposed Change: Upper Hutt School.
