Get Ready Week 2024

Get Ready Week 2024 runs from October 21st-25th and is centred around our national earthquake and tsunami drill, ShakeOut.

We've made it easy to prepare for an emergency by breaking down the steps you need to take to get your home and whānau ready.

Get Household Ready

When disaster strikes, your life can become up-ended quickly.

Get household ready by knowing your hazards, having an emergency plan and putting together emergency supplies.

Do you have a plan for if an emergency happened while you were at work? 

Emergencies can happen at anytime. It is important to know what to do whether you are at home or at work.

Get School Ready

An emergency could happen while your child is at school.

Get Earthquake Ready

The Wellington region is crossed by a number of major faults, including the Wairarapa, Wellington and Ohariu faults.

Get Community Ready

In a disaster such as a big earthquake, there is likely to be widespread damage to power lines, water pipes, buildings, roads, and phone networks.

Everyone will need to pitch in to help one another.
